About butterfly net casting and the purpose of yoga
I remember one of my Anusara yoga teacher's theme about casting a butterfly net as a metaphor for seeking spiritual freedom in your heart through the method of yoga. The body is a vessel made up of limitation and restraint much like the net. Casting the net is an act of desire for what ever it is we are seeking. The butterfly is the thing we most want but we are afraid to to have completely because it could escape without ever returning. Butterflies are free, at least that is how the cliche goes, so what is the point of captuing something that is eternally free. Freedom is neither caught nor in danger of flying away. It is always with us and alway full of peace in our hearts. So the act of casting a butterfly net is perhaps less about attaining our desire and more about remembering who we really are. Nameste.
